Aerodynamics Analysis

The key accountabilities of this role are:

  • Analysis and reporting of aerodynamics data from wind tunnel, CFD and track.
  • To be actively involved in accessing, integrating and developing novel aerodynamic measurement technologies.
  • Define off-body flow measurement requirements on track and in the wind tunnel; assist the model shop with manufacture, and analyse and report the results as required.
  • Support the Aero Performance Group at race and test events as required in order to inform decision-making and enable fast reporting of the results with relevant context.
  • Develop problem solving and communication skills through working closely with fellow engineers.
  • Planning and operation support of wind tunnel programs in the Red Bull Technology wind tunnel facility.
  • Support the documentation of Red Bull Technology testing and analysis techniques.

  • Offering support for in-house tools and software systems used in the Aerodynamics Department
  • Develop problem solving and communication skills through working closely with aerodynamics, software, mechanical and electronics engineers

Candidates wishing to apply for this role should be studying towards an aeronautical, mechanical or software engineering degree, be computer literate and prepared to carry out hands-on tasks. Knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, Simulink or Python would be advantageous but not essential.

We have an exciting placement opportunity within our Electronics Department.  Working closely with the Design and Production functions of the department, you will produce on-car and off-car hardware solutions, meeting the requirements of our racing team.

The main accountabilities of the role are:

  • Design on-car hardware solutions, pit gear and rig equipment.
  • Create loom and sensor drawings, system diagrams, build documentation, process definitions, and 3D CAD models.
  • The use of a wide range of test equipment in our Test and Inspection facility.
  • Perform fault investigations on sensors, actuators, and across systems.
  • Assistance, where required, in all general workshop and car build tasks.

CAD Training will be provided.  You will be supported by experienced Electronic Design Engineers as required.  The placement will be for 1 year, starting in the summer of 2017.

Candidates should be studying towards an Electrical / Electronics related degree and should be computer literate.  They should also be prepared to carry out hands-on tasks.

  • To play an active role in the day-to-day function of the department, including component and assembly testing to the high standards set and the procedures defined by the department

  • To develop into playing an active role in the day-to-day function of the department, assisting with the mechanical, electronic and software based aspects of dyno preparation and operation.
  • To complete dyno based gearbox component and assembly testing to the high standards set out by Red Bull Technology and the procedures defined by the R&D Test department.
  • To utilise trackside data monitoring and control systems in conjunction with the test rigs.
  • To assist with the analysis of results and compilation of accurate reports detailing the findings from R&D Drivetrain Testing.
  • To develop CAD competency using NX through training and practice, such that detailed design drawings of Drivetrain test rig fixtures and assemblies can be released for manufacture.
  • To play an active part in the presentation of the R&D Drivetrain Test Departments

Structural Analysis

Design Engineering

The principle accountabilities for the Design roles are as follows:-

  • Designing and draughting of vehicle components or garage equipment for either circuit use or R&D laboratory test
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities
  • The preparation of reports or other technical documentation as may be required
  • Gaining experience in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, stress analysis, cad design, cad draughting
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers, mechanics and technical specialists throughout the organisation

The successful applicant will demonstrate

•          A good understanding of a 3D CAD system

•          An understanding of Structural analysis techniques

•          An understanding of Mechanical principles

  • Preliminary structural analysis of vehicle components or garage equipment, supporting experienced engineers in the team

  • Gaining experience in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, data analysis, cad design

Vehicle Dynamics

The position is targeted towards Mechanical, Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering students. Candidates will require good mathematical and analytical skills and an engineering background. Knowledge of vehicle dynamic principles and experience with Matlab would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will develop skills in problem solving, creativity, teamwork, planning, innovation and communication whilst performing the following tasks:

  • Validate models against track data
  • Provide predictive performance analysis
  • Support data analysis of race and test events
  • Develop automated routines and processes for data analysis and metrics generation

We are currently seeking an experienced Analyst/Programmer to join the Manufacturing Systems Team within our IT department.

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Working with key users and stakeholders to identify future requirements
  • Evaluating alternative design concepts and determining an optimal approach
  • Developing and testing solutions.  This may involve both the configuration of commercial products and the development of bespoke software
  • Good communication including leading training workshops and user groups
  • Assisting users with application specific support calls
  • Ensuring the system security requirements are not compromised

Applicants should have extensive experience within a complex engineering and manufacturing environment.  They will require expert development and administrative knowledge of Epicor 10.  This should include advanced customisations, bpm’s, baq’s, etc.  They should be fully conversant with relevant programming languages including C#, VB.NET and Transact-SQL.  Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services would be advantageous, as would experience of ERP10 SDK.

The successful candidate will additionally be a proven team player, flexible, and motivated by the challenge of delivering top quality solutions to technically difficult tasks within tight deadlines.  This is predominantly a factory based role.

The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our highly skilled Aerodynamics team, focusing on the development of our multi-championship winning Formula One cars. Our open, dynamic environment ensures that everyone can make a valuable contribution to increasing our F1 car’s performance and we are looking for experienced Aerodynamics Engineers to join us and ensure our future success on the race track.

Working from our Milton Keynes factory and Bedford wind tunnel facility you will be involved in the complete development cycle from initial concepts through to deployment on the race car. This will include the design of components, being responsible for wind tunnel and CFD programmes, analysing aerodynamic performance data and contributing to the development of tools and methods.

To fulfil these positions you will need:

  • A minimum of an Engineering Degree with a specialisation in Aerodynamics
  • Detailed knowledge of aerodynamic principles, wind tunnel testing and CFD techniques

We offer an interesting role in our design office, encompassing the activities of design engineer & BoM controller.

The role will be part of the Project Engineering team within the Vehicle Design & Development department.

Our Project Engineering team takes responsibility for a wide variety of engineering design work, ranging from customer F1 component design, through novel car systems, DIL Simulator, to F1 pit stop performance equipment and Red Bull Racing’s F1 garage environment.

Interested applicants will have a broad experience in engineering design, from a relevant industry.

Expertise in 3d cad is essential. Experience of Siemens NX is desirable, but training can be given.

In addition to the design engineer responsibility, a key aspect of the role will be managing and maintaining our customer F1 BoM. Training on Siemens Teamcenter will be given. 

Attention to detail and good engineering judgement are pre-requisites for this role, and successful applicants must have an engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
