As we mentioned last week in our build-up to our live demo in Austin, they do everything bigger in Texas and it was a maxim we applied not only to the showcar run itself, but also to the latest in our series of Breakfast Club meetings.
This time out, instead of inviting a crew of lucky club members to our team base in Milton Keynes, we went large and offered fans a chance to hang out with the team in Austin, at our live demo in the run up to the US Grand Prix.
To qualify for this money-can't-buy opportunity, the task was simple (but also infernally complex): come up with the best western movie poster for the team's outing at this year's United States Grand Prix.
The standard of the entries was amazing but in the end the three lucky breakfasters were Elizabeth Werth, Catherine Ryland and Michael Craig, who were each also allowed to bring along one very lucky guest.
The lucky six assembled at 9am this morning at the team's Austin hotel, where they enjoyed a five-star breakfast right in the heart of the action as mechanics, engineers and even DJ EROK took their place for standardly hearty American breakfast. They were then whisked off to another secret downtown location where they hooked up with Daniel who took time to sign merchandise and take the mandatory #selfies before making their way to the location of the day's activities – Congress Avenue in the heart of the city's downtown area.
There they got access to the show run where they had the best seats in the house for Daniel's tyre-squealing, donut-spinning, brake-frying runs in the RB7 and Seb's full-throttle blasts in the 500+hp Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge.
Commenting on the day out Michael said: "I'd just like to thank all the Team at Infiniti Red Bull Racing for inviting us to the event today. It was great to see behind the scenes and see what actually happens on the day of a live demo event. The favourite part of the day has to be meeting Daniel, as an Aussie travelling to Austin for this weekend, it was great to get up close and personal and get some one-on-one time with him."
Meanwhile, local Austin girl Elizabeth added: "My general experience of today was just awesome. Getting to meet Daniel was a dream and getting to have breakfast with the Team was a really fun opportunity; it was great to meet a lot of people from different parts of the world.
"There's a big buzz in Austin ahead of the race, even people who perhaps didn't know much about Formula One know about it now or have heard at least heard about it."
