It’s a busy week in the US of A for the Team. While the race team are flat-out in Austin, our Live Demo team has been busy in Miami. Earlier this week we had David Coulthard doing donuts 63 storeys above Biscayne Boulevard on the 1000 Museum building helipad. Rather than return home to Milton Keynes, the crew extended their stay in Florida, to take part in the final F1 Festival of the season.
Patrick Friesacher was at the wheel of the RB7, lighting it up in downtown Miami on Saturday evening, putting the double championship-winning legend through its full range of donuts and burnouts in front of a bumper crowd, who also had Renault sharing the billing and Emerson Fittipaldi in the mighty McLaren M23, the car with which he became a double World Champion at the United States Grand Prix of 1974.
The crowd were further entertained by the Red Bull Airforce doing their thing out over the channel, plus the lesser-spotted Red Bull helicopter aerobatic display and, as day turned to night, the roar of V8s was replaced by the sound of music with a live set from Abraham Mateo and headliners Silk City, the Mark Ronson and Diplo joint project.
While the Miami event was suitably chilled, the temperature is turning up now as attention turns to the Circuit of the Americas, and today’s United States Grand Prix.
