You should have excellent C++ software development skills with experience of Linux and Windows. The ideal candidate will have experience developing GUI driven data visualisation tools using Qt and OpenGL. You will have done data analysis and modelling to extract insights from large data sets and will have experience of interfacing to databases and web services.

You should be self-motivated and proactive, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work to very tight deadlines within a dynamic team environment, often with minimal supervision.

Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be part of a small team and provide key software tools to the aerodynamics department and the wider company. This role is a Fixed Term Contract position until the end of 2020.

We have an exciting placement opportunity within our Electronics Department. Working closely with the Design and Production functions of the department, you will produce on-car and off-car hardware solutions, meeting the requirements of our racing team.

The main accountabilities of the role are:

  • Designing on-car hardware solutions, pit gear and rig equipment.
  • Creating loom and sensor drawings, system diagrams, build documentation, process definitions, and 3D CAD models.
  • The use of a wide range of test equipment in our Test and Inspection facility.
  • Performing fault investigations on sensors, actuators, and across systems.
  • Assisting, where required, in all general workshop and car build tasks.

CAD Training will be provided. You will be supported by experienced Electronic and Electrical Systems Design Engineers as required.

Candidates should be studying towards an Electrical / Electronics related degree and should be computer literate. You should also be prepared to carry out hands-on tasks.

Vehicle Dynamics

The position is targeted towards Mechanical, Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering students. Candidates will require good mathematical and analytical skills and an engineering background. Knowledge of vehicle dynamic principles and experience with Matlab would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will develop skills in problem solving, creativity, teamwork, planning, innovation and communication whilst performing the following tasks:

  • Validate models against track data
  • Provide predictive performance analysis
  • Support data analysis of race and test events
  • Develop automated routines and processes for data analysis and metrics generation
  • Develop design-of-experiments using existing toolsets
  • Provide real-time event support

The key accountabilities of this role are:

  • Analysis and reporting of aerodynamics data from wind tunnel, CFD and track.
  • To be actively involved in accessing, integrating and developing novel aerodynamic measurement technologies.
  • Define off-body flow measurement requirements on track and in the wind tunnel; assist the model shop with manufacture, and analyse and report the results as required.
  • Support the Aero Performance Group at race and test events as required in order to inform decision-making and enable fast reporting of the results with relevant context.
  • Develop problem solving and communication skills through working closely with fellow engineers.
  • Planning and operation support of wind tunnel programs in the Red Bull Technology wind tunnel facility.
  • Support the documentation of Red Bull Technology testing and analysis techniques.

We have opportunities within the following Vehicle Design teams:

The Design Roles

The key accountabilities for the Design roles are:-

  • Designing and draughting of vehicle components or garage equipment
  • Design and draughting of any tooling needed to manufacture your car components
  • Developing proficiency in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, stress analysis, cad design, cad draughting
  • The preparation of technical documentation to support your designs
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers, mechanics and technical specialists from throughout the organisation
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities

The successful applicants will demonstrate

• A good understanding of a 3D CAD system

• An understanding of Mechanical principles

• A good hands-on approach

• An understanding of Structural analysis techniques

The Structures Analysis Role

The key accountabilities for the Structural Analysis role are:

  • Preliminary structural analysis of vehicle components or garage equipment, supporting experienced engineers in the team
  • Using classical mechanical theory and calculations to validate designs
  • The development of mathematical models for predicting the behaviour of specific elements of mechanical designs
  • The preparation of stress analysis summary reports, and other technical documentation as may be required
  • Gaining experience in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, data analysis, cad design
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers and technicians from throughout the organisation
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities

Candidates wishing to apply for the Structural Analysis role should be able to demonstrate:

• A good understanding of a Finite Element Analysis software

• A thorough understanding of Structural Analysis principles and techniques

• An understanding of Mechanical principles

• A good academic record in the appropriate subjects

We have an exciting position for Drivetrain & Sub Assembly Technician to join the Drivetrain & Sub Assembly (DTSA) group.

In this role you will be responsible for the building and servicing of Drivetrain & Sub-Assemblies to the highest standards for Race, Test and Development purposes. You will also be expected to carry out other associated assembly activities as requested by the DTSA Team Leader or Assembly Group Manager.

To be successful in this post, you will need to possess the ability to understand technical drawings and follow build processes and procedures. You will also need to be responsible and accountable for delivering objectives on time and escalating any problems identified when working unsupervised.

This role is based from our factory, but may have elements of travel. In this instance you could be attending trackside, technical partner or promotional events as required.

This role requires a passionate, highly motivated and committed individual. A strong team player who works well as part of a team and successfully as an individual. Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be involved in the complete development cycle from initial concepts through to deployment. This will include the development of hyper car aerodynamics primarily through CFD development programmes, analysing aerodynamic performance data and contributing to the development of our tools and methods.

The ideal candidate will have an aerodynamics background with ideally 3-5 years’ experience within the F1 industry. You will be working within the Red Bull Advanced Technology Aerodynamics Group on the latest concepts for the AM-RB Valkyrie derivative vehicles and other exciting new ventures, generating geometry and conducting detailed analysis of aerodynamic datasets.

To fulfil this position you will need:

  • A minimum of an Engineering Degree with a specialisation in Aerodynamics
  • 3-5 years’ experience within F1 is desirable but not essential
  • Detailed knowledge of aerodynamic principles and CFD techniques
  • A good understanding of data analysis tools and techniques and other multi-disciplinary engineering skills including CAD and vehicle dynamics
  • An organised and methodical approach to work
