We require a passionate engineering software developer, ideally educated to at least degree level in Applied Mathematics or Computer Science.

You should have excellent C++ software development skills with experience of Linux and Windows. The ideal candidate will have experience developing GUI driven data visualisation tools using Qt and OpenGL. You will have done data analysis and modelling to extract insights from large data sets and will have experience of interfacing to databases and web services.

You should be self-motivated and proactive, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work to very tight deadlines within a dynamic team environment, often with minimal supervision.

Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be part of a small team and provide key software tools to the aerodynamics department and the wider company. This role is a Fixed Term Contract position until the end of 2020.

Red Bull Technology is inviting candidates to apply for Industrial Placement positions within its Aerodynamics Department.

Aerodynamics Analysis

The key accountabilities of this role are:

  • Analysis and reporting of aerodynamics data from wind tunnel, CFD and track.
  • To be actively involved in accessing, integrating and developing novel aerodynamic measurement technologies.
  • Define off-body flow measurement requirements on track and in the wind tunnel; assist the model shop with manufacture, and analyse and report the results as required.
  • Support the Aero Performance Group at race and test events as required in order to inform decision-making and enable fast reporting of the results with relevant context.
  • Develop problem solving and communication skills through working closely with fellow engineers.
  • Planning and operation support of wind tunnel programs in the Red Bull Technology wind tunnel facility.
  • Support the documentation of Red Bull Technology testing and analysis techniques.

Candidates wishing to apply for this role should demonstrate an active interest in aerodynamics, be studying towards a mechanical/aeronautical engineering degree with a strong aerodynamics content, be computer literate and prepared to carry out hands-on tasks.

The placements will be for 1 year, starting in Summer 2020.

  • Creating new systems and techniques for the wind tunnel, CFD and track environments as well as the associated test rigs
  • Working with state of the art technologies to help further the understanding of Formula One racing car aerodynamics
  • Offering support for in-house tools and software systems used in the Aerodynamics Department
  • Develop problem solving and communication skills through working closely with aerodynamics, software, mechanical and electronics engineers

Candidates wishing to apply for this role should be studying towards an aeronautical, mechanical or software engineering degree, be computer literate and prepared to carry out hands-on tasks. Knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, Simulink or Python would be advantageous but not essential.

The placements will be for 1 year, starting in Summer 2020.
