We are seeking a highly motivated, flexible and innovative engineer capable of working to the highest standards to join our Vehicle Dynamics Suspensions Systems department, in the Vehicle Performance Group.

 

In this role, you will analyse car and laboratory data to improve the performance of the car from a suspension car behaviour aspect. You will implement new analysis and simulation algorithms and methods for both simulation and track data, provide predictive performance metrics for simulation, race and test events, and develop simulation models at both component and vehicle levels to find car performance.

 

The successful candidate will have a Masters degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Physics, strong academic background, with excellent capabilities in Dynamics and Vibrations, Mechanics, Applied Mathematics and a very good working knowledge of Matlab / Simulink.

Knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and multi-body systems would be a distinctive advantage.

You will interact with various groups within the organisation and will therefore need good communication and teamwork skills.

 

While not essential, previous experience in a similar role in Motorsport will be beneficial.

Skills and Experience

  • To be considered for the role you will have:

  • To demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, commitment and show a keen interest in Car and Component Assembly work and Motorsport.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are currently seeking a Software Tester Apprentice. You will be required to commit to learning the skills and knowledge required to operate within the different disciplines of our Integration Lab.

You will learn the process of software testing, validation, verification and related activities required to support races and other events. And you will gain extensive experience and training in testing a wide range of applications supporting different engineering disciplines.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be considered for the role you will have:

5 GCSE’s at A*-C/9-4 including Maths, English and Science.

A Levels in Maths / Physics and optionally Computer Science or equivalent BTEC are desirable.

Ideally you will be Degree qualified in an Electronics discipline, combined with the relevant experience of Motorsport Electronics.

The role involves working on a wide variety of projects within our Electronics Design function and alongside our team of Engineers. You will be responsible for the specification, design, test and calibration of our Electrical and Electronic components and their associated equipment, allowing us to meet the requirements of our Engineering function. You will work on our on and off car systems, test rigs and equipment as well as producing the required documentation and procedures to suit. You will be required to carry out fault investigation and resolution of allocated issues. You will be working with various disciplines across RBR and RBT.

You will also be required to maintain and operate our full range of test and inspection equipment including specialist rig equipment.  You will contribute to the design and development of future test and inspection techniques and equipment.

The ideal candidate should have

  • Some experience working in either the motorsports industry at a suitably high level or the aviation industry in a similar capacity (Licenced Technician / Technician)
  • A thorough basic understanding of electrical fundamentals and sensor theory and technology.
  • Be computer literate with normal Microsoft office applications such as word/excel etc. and also be able to quickly learn and adapt to using the bespoke applications used within RBT.

Good communication skills, enthusiasm and the ability to learn and adapt quickly are prerequisite for the role. The ability to work well as part of a team is an essential skill within Red Bull Technology.

This role involves the detailed inspection of complex and critical race car components and assemblies to the highest standards using various inspection methods, recording and reporting results in accordance with our procedures.

The applicant will have extensive proven NDT experience and ideally possess level 2 qualifications in Ultrasonics, Magnetic Particle, Penetrants and Eddy Current. You will also be able to demonstrate skills in the use of inspection measuring equipment.

Applicants interested in applying will ideally be apprentice trained, hold an ONC/HNC qualification or equivalent and have experience and knowledge within a Manufacturing/Inspection environment. In this role you will develop and implement vehicle and component models for application to customer projects. This will include: quasi-static models, dynamic models, and associated analysis and test.

This position requires a candidate with good mathematical skills with an engineering background, a strong background in modelling techniques, together with a good working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink. Knowledge of Modelica, Dymola and Python is desirable but not essential.

You will interact with the Vehicle Dynamics group, IT Department and our customers, and will need good communication skills and a professional approach in dealings with customers. Disciplined time management and planning will be essential for achieving customer model release dates.

This is a varied and dynamic role with opportunity for working with a range of modelling techniques. You will have the satisfaction of seeing the results of your work applied by our customers. We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our highly skilled Aerodynamics team, focusing on the development of our multi-championship winning Formula One cars. Our open, dynamic environment ensures that everyone can make a valuable contribution to increasing our F1 car’s performance and we are looking for experienced Aerodynamics Engineers to join us and ensure our future success on the race track.

Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be involved in the complete development cycle from initial concepts through to deployment on the race car. This will include the design of components, being responsible for wind tunnel and CFD programmes, analysing aerodynamic performance data and contributing to the development of tools and methods.  As a senior member within a development group you will also be required to act as a mentor to others within the group, guiding development on various projects while also managing your own work load.

To fulfil these positions you will need:

  • A minimum of an Engineering Degree with a specialisation in Aerodynamics
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a relevant field, preferably Formula 1
  • Detailed knowledge of aerodynamic principles, wind tunnel testing and CFD techniques
  • A good understanding of data analysis tools and techniques and other multi-disciplinary engineering skills including CAD and vehicle dynamics
  • An organised and methodical approach to work
